History of Carholme Golf Club

Early records show that a 9-hole course was originally opened on the site in 1891 after an agreement was reached to lease an area of land known as the West Common. The original course was known as Lincoln Golf Club. However, by 1903 some of its original members began to look for new pastures, and having acquired land at Torksey decided to vacate the facilities in Lincoln.

The Committee 1912 - 1913
The golf course on the West Common, by now consisting of 18 holes, became available to other interested parties, and on the 6th of July 1906, the Carholme Golf Club was born. The newly-formed club made an immediate impact and in no time at all there was a membership of 60.

A goundsman was employed to prepare the greens and matches were soon arranged with other local golf clubs.  A challenging fixture list attracted more members and contributed to an improved standard of play.
